Welcome to Villa Bondi, located in a neighborhood called Amstrong Estates, just a five-minute walk from the Sonoma Plaza and its restaurants, shops and wine tasting rooms.
What We Love About This Home
Villa Bondi is designed to look like an historic Victorian mansion yet operate like a fully modern home. The home has 4 bedrooms, 3+ bathrooms, a huge open kitchen, a sweeping staircase, and a swanky lounge in the attic.
In the backyard, a covered patio gives way to the pool with an integrated spa. Perhaps the most inviting part of this gorgeous getaway is the wraparound covered front porch - it’s the perfect spot to enjoy wine with friends on a warm summer night.
Interior Details
The entryway is grand, with 30-foot ceilings and a sweeping staircase that winds up to the second floor. On the ground floor, a formal dining room and sitting room boast exquisite wallpaper that is soft to the touch, like velour. In the sitting room built-in cabinets with leaded glass doors amplify the Victorian vibe.
The open kitchen looks out on a modern living room with a wall of windows and plenty of natural light. Built-in bookcases display a treasure-trove of art and history books.
Three of the four bedrooms are on the second floor; all of them feature crystal doorknobs and other whimsical decorations that nod to period design. Bathrooms have new fixtures made to look old; the wallpaper in the bathroom off the primary bedroom resembles the shelves of a library.
The attic, reached via a secret staircase from the second-floor landing, has the feel of a speakeasy—there are daybeds, a large television, and built-in bookcases galore.
Exterior Details
The grounds of Villa Bondi are best described as stately. In the front, a wraparound covered porch provides a comfortable perch to sit and relax—it looks out on a circa-1870 home across the street. The backyard is taken up mostly by a covered patio and pool, which boasts an integrated spa. There’s a pool house and a small yard. Villa Bondi also has a two-car garage that is available to guests.
Other Amenities
Villa Bondi is bursting with extras. The sitting room, kitchen, and primary bedroom each have fireplaces—all but the one in the primary are gas. Wallpaper is exquisite, with textures that rival decorations you might find in France.
Location
Armstrong Estates is a modern association of private homes designed to look like classic Victorian mansions. The centerpiece of the neighborhood is the Daniel Young mansion circa-1870 house that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
